Teton County’s taxpayers FINALLY got a win!
Ohio-based RedStone Equity, which owns the Flat Creek Apartments, will now have to pay property tax – just like everyone else!
They’ve been billed $53,486!
(the Town of Jackson owns the land, but the developers were given a FREE 99-year lease!)
Thank you, Assessor Mel Shinkle, for standing up to corporate interests and doing the right thing by us taxpayers!
It is likely that BlueLine Development will appeal this decision to the County Commissioners, but I will keep you posted on this.

And don’t forget: BlueLine Development also asked TCHA Director April Norton whether she would accept a 0.0001 percent ownership interest when they purchased the Snow King Apartments on Rodeo Drive for the purpose of obtaining a property tax abatement
—and she said yes.
Thankfully, this is no longer going to happen.
Since Director Norton deleted all of her text messages with BlueLine to “free up space on her phone”, the only details we have are in this email:

NO new housing was being created!
NO new deed restrictions were being added!
THE FORMER OWNERS PAID PROPERTY TAX!
It makes you wonder:
WHO IS DIRECTOR NORTON REALLY WORKING FOR?
Any housing development involving the Jackson/Teton County Housing Authority NEVER seems to turn out the way the public was originally told it would.
